Not long after Latvia regained its independence, a group of 8 travelling enthusiasts who have already been working in travel business has established a small company with great aim – to be among the leading travel agencies not only in Latvia, but in the whole region of the Baltic States.
We were one of the first agencies in Latvia to receive IATA certificate, which means that already then we’ve met their professional standards. That was another step forward in creation of the successful and growing company, gaining more and more trust of our clients.
With a steady development and growth a need for much wider working space became inevitable. Thus in late August with a grand opening we moved to brand new office in the very heart of the old town. We still have only the best memories of that time!
The search for new markets and global partners led us to the professional friendship with one of the best known names and values in tourism market – Thomas Cook Worldwide Network. This membership has let us reach a lot of new clients and expand our business like never before.
Beginning of the new millennium brought us 2 major changes. As our family of professionals became bigger, we have moved again to the bigger premises next to the Freedom Monument overlooking the National Opera House, and we still call this office our home. Secondly, new international membership gave a significant boost of corporate & business travel – we became members of Business Travel International.
Our new product – “Riga By Night” tour was awarded the Best Incentive Product by Latvian Tourism Development Agency. This tour is an unique and unusual way to explore the Old Town of RIga & to observe its heritage in more romantic atmosphere and charm. Highlights of the excursion are the theatrical elements encountered by guests during the stroll through the cobblestoned streets – medieval guards, musicians, dancers, a monk. The combination of these elements makes this excursion exciting and memorable.
After being known under several different names (TAS, BTI TAS, TAS Latvija) we’ve re-branded our company to the name we’re known under today – TAS Baltics. Another turning point was new membership in global corporation – Hogg Robinson Group which we still represent in Latvia.
Celebrating our 20th anniversary the total 20 Sakura trees was planted by our team in the parks and gardens of Riga. As Japan was becoming a significant travel market for us, we hoped that these Sakura trees will grow and bloom year by year, strengthening and enhancing mutual relations and cooperation between Latvia and Japan.
Today TAS Baltics is deservedly referred as one of the leading professional Destination Management Companies in the Baltic States. We look forward to the future with enthusiasm. To understand our heritage is to understand our commitment to quality and our quest to provide unique and meaningful travel experiences for years to come.
